Gene Warfel and Concord-Carlisle Regional School District

Background

Gene Warfel, who oversees IT for the Concord-Carlisle Regional School District. wanted to bring the state of the art to his students and teachers. Warfel sponsored a week-long seminar over the summer for seven teachers in the science department on the use of the Apple Workgroup Cluster and BioTeam’s iNquiry software.

Solution Design

The setup included most everything they needed for bioinformatics applications including BLAST, HMMER and iNquiry applications that allow pattern matching of protein and DNA sequences.
